Roraine is made out of fifty five islands, each of them an independent city state, governed by a godly patron.When the Horror Itself perished, from its carcass a fifty sixth island arose, divine innards becoming the shores and the forests and the rivers. Eventually, the glorious Aorta Bay will be built there, the cultural capital of the world, known as the city of occult.Following a mysterious letter hinting at her absent family, as well as hopeful to find a job, Nicholas moves to Aorta Bay, the maw of the Deep.Leading characters →

JOHANN STORYTELLER
he/theyJohann, more commonly known as the Storyteller, is a kooky and chatty pulp fiction author. He would've been enjoying his comfortable retirement, if not for the lingering feeling of emptiness in Johann's life. After being away from his hometown for decades, the man finally decided to return to Aorta Bay, where he opened his own literary society, Four Humors. A society with only three members thus far: himself, his assistant, and his ex wife.Romance was, and perhaps still is one of Johann's dearest friends. Even if he will always treasure the memories of their shared exploits, Johann is unsure if he can ever forgive Romance for what he put through both himself and Isaac.

ISAAC KENNING
he/himA forensic pathologist with an expertise of nearly forty years, Isaac is infamous for his quick wit, sardonic character, and cold exterior. He thought to be meeting his twilight years lonesome and sorrowful, but his entire life was turned upside down when a child of his long lost friend entered the stage.The time Isaac had to work on Project Pneuma is one of the most dreadful of his life. It still makes him feel guilty, filthy even, feeling as though he broke his oath that he swore as a doctor. Romance's presence on the same project made things all the more worse. When Romance began self-isolating, Isaac advocated to leave him be. He isn't sure if it was the right call.

JACOBELLO MEZZETINO
he/himHailing from a renowned house of stonemasons, Jacobello is a sculptor and architect in training, his hands already capable of works rivaling his seniors. Having held chisel and hammer earlier than he did a book, Jacobello's entire childhood was spent in mastering stone. In the Basilica of Aorta Bay, Jacobello is currently studying under His Eminence the Cardinal, while also being employed as Johann Storyteller's assistant and proofreader.Jacobello felt apprehensive about his journey to Aorta Bay. As much as he wanted to see the Basilica erected by the radiant Lord Apollyon hundreds of years ago, all the rumors about the so called "maw of the Deep" didn't paint a pleasant picture. But to boy's relief, while moody, the odd town proved to be much less scary than he first assumed.

HIS EMINENCE, THE CARDINAL
he/sheHis Eminence the Cardinal, current head of the Basilica. In the chase after power and ideals, he had sacrificed whatever little had left of his humanity. His body is no longer flesh and bone.A creature that was thought impossible to exist, his very presence defying laws of nature. He was reborn from the Deep as something more than human, something more than god. He would have preferred to stay dead, but the WORLD SOUL had different plans for him. Such is the fate of its favorite human.
